Australia Day Awards presented in Murweh

THE MURWEH SHIRE COMMUNITY GATHERS POOLSIDE TO CELEBRATE AUSTRALIA DAY 2025
Under a clear blue sky, the Charleville Swimming Pool complex played host to the Murweh Shire 2025 Australia Day celebrations, drawing a large crowd to enjoy a host of activities and reflect on what it means to live in this beautiful region of Australia.
Children and adults alike competed in a number of Dash for Cash swimming events, soothed the tastebuds with a sausage sizzle, enjoyed giant poolside games and showed their passion for our country with Australia Day-themed tattoos.
As the heat of the morning built, attention was drawn to the presentation of the Murweh Shire Australia Day Awards, recognising and celebrating the outstanding contributions of individuals to their community with the list of 2025 nominees as follows:

Young Citizen of the Year – Matthew Little
Citizen of the Year – Louise Winten
In the absence of Murweh Shire Mayor, Cr Shaun ‘Zoro’ Radnedge, Deputy Mayor, Cr Peter ‘Red’ Alexander had the privilege of presenting this year’s awards with assistance from Councillors Robert Eckel and Michelle Ebsworth.
These awards highlight the impact individuals can have on their communities and is a wonderful way to celebrate and honour those who have made a difference in their own communities and beyond.
